This letter is written on behalf of
Kim "Boss Hogg" Truck #40055
My family and I were on our way to the Florida
Keys (towing a boat) to do some
lobstering on Wednesday, August 16, 2006 when we heard a loud sound... we
had
just blown a tire on our boat trailer. We pulled off the side of the road
the best we could
without rolling down the embankment. We were still somewhat close to the
oncoming
traffic but we knew we still had to change the tire closest to the
highway. What a feeling...
being on a highway with cars and trucks whizzing by you and no one
stopping to offer
you any help.
We were in Clewiston, Florida on a 4 lane
highway changing the tire when this 18
wheeler pulled up behind my boat, put his emergency flashers on and
blocked all the
oncoming traffic. The gentleman driving the truck got out and offered to
help us change
the tire. He said he had all kinds of air tools that we could use. What a
GOD-SEND...
While changing the tire, we learned that this
gentleman was traveling Northbound and
saw us in trouble and made a U-turn to come back to help us in the
Southbound
lane...YOU JUST DON'T FIND "ORDINARY" PEOPLE DOING THAT FOR
SOMEONE IN TODAY'S WORLD. He went out of his way and took the time out
of his trip
to help someone in need. This truck driver, BOSS HOGG is truly a "SPECIAL"
kind of
person. I hope someday I can repay the favor.
One more thing... I learned later as we drove
off that my future son-in-law offered Boss
Hogg some money for his help, and he refused. He said his Grandfather once
told him
"NEVER TAKE ADVANTAGE OF SOMEONE ELSE'S MISFORTUNES."
It is without reservation that I recommend
BOSS HOGG for consideration for
EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH or whatever award you give for OUTSTANDING
SERVICE for your truck drivers. |
