Agents are a vital link in SMT's chain and we are always looking for productive agents to join our team.

We recognize that your success is key to our success. So, we have designed our programs to protect your accounts and support the growth of your agency.
Steel & Machinery Transportation, Inc. offers its agents:
  • 8% commission
  • 50% of profit with a minimum of 5% of gross to SMT on traffic brokered to          foreign trucks 
  • Weekly payments of commissions
  • A network of over 100 agents
  • A Company sales force calling on National Accounts at Corporate levels, or local levels as needed
  • Internet access to our mainframe computer
What is required to be an agent for Steel & Machinery Transportation?
  • Agency location must be accessible to trucks with ample parking available
  • Agency must have fax machine. (Internet access a plus)
  • Agent must lease on or recruit 5 trucks
  • Agent's customers must be direct-bill; no broker freight
  • Agent minimum SMT revenue of $10,000 per month
